Schiit Celebrates 5th Anniversary, Releases Book

06/15/2015

Schiit Happened Provides Real-World Insight for Companies That Didn’t Win the VC or Crowdfunding Lotteries

June 15, 2015, Valencia, CA. For the occasion of Schiit Audio’s 5th Anniversary, Schiit Happened: The Story of the World’s Most Improbable Start-Up has been released in both e-Book and print formats. Schiit Happened tells the unexpurgated story of Schiit Audio, an electronics company that started in a garage and quickly went on to impress early customers and reviewers, and grabbed the attention of press from Head-Fi to CNet to The New York Times.

“If you’ve been wondering if any start-up can succeed without investment, rich relatives, or crowdfunding, the answer is yes,” said Jason Stoddard, Schiit’s Co-Founder. “We are a leader in the personal audio industry now, and have been profitable every year we’ve been in business—with no investment, no bank loans, and no neuroses over ‘making the numbers’ for the beancounters.”

Schiit Audio bucked many of the trends of the time when it launched in 2010: choosing to manufacture entirely in the USA, targeting a youthful market with affordable products, taking a bold and unforgettable name…and paying it off with much-needed humor in what is usually a very staid industry.

Schiit Happened was first serialized on Head-Fi.org (and is still available there in blog form at http://www.head-fi.org/t/701900/schiit-happened-the-story-of-the-worlds-most-improbable-start-up). Jason decided to have the book professionally edited and formatted for release to a wider audience when he began getting email from many people saying that this kind of content was sorely needed in schools…and several educators actually began recommending their students read it for their coursework, citing the gritty, tell-all content of this behind-the-scenes book.

“As I mention in the book, if you buy anything from us after you see how much we screw up, it’ll be a miracle,” says Jason Stoddard, Schiit Audio’s co-founder. “This isn’t some puff piece about how easy it is to run your own business, or about how smart we are. This is how the real world works.”

Schiit Happened is available now as an eBook via Amazon, Kobo, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble at $4.99, and will shortly be available in print via Createspace and Amazon at $14.99.
